Sir William Wallace
Sir William Wallace (portrayed here by Mel Gibson) is a Scottish knight, landowner, and patriot who is known for leading a resistance during the Wars of Scottish Independence. Along with Andrew Moray, he defeated an English army at Stirling, and became Guardian of Scotland, serving until his defeat at the Battle of Falkirk. After several years in hiding, Wallace was eventually found in Scotland and handed over to Edward I of England, who had him executed for treason. The 1995 film Braveheart was based on the life of Sir William, though it contained many historical inaccuracies.

Stop motion clay animation duo Wallace and Gromit are the creation of Academy Award-winning English filmmaker Nick Park. The unbeatable man-dog team features Wallace, an absent-minded inventor with an obsession for cheese and his canine companion Gromit (who proves time and time again that he is smarter than his master). The team has appeared in 4 British animated short films, a series of 10 short-animated sequences, and a feature-length film and have found international success, particularly in the children's market. Not too bad for plasticine figures eh?
